| LyricFind was founded in March, 2000, with a vision
of creating a lyrics site that actually worked, and worked
well. With that in mind, we created the first functional
full text lyrics search engine on the internet, and started
off with a mere 11,000 lyrics culled from various existing
sites online.
As 2000 came to a close, LyricFind had grown so much
that we began to negotiate with music publishers to
secure licensing to legally display the lyrics. However,
it was not meant to be at the time, and we were unable
to secure licensing in our first attempt.
Times have changed, however, and with the advent of
digital music, new possibilities bloomed. LyricFind
has now licensed content from nearly 2,000 music publishers
(including all four majors - EMI, Sony/ATV, Warner-Chappell,
and Universal/BMG) and can display the lyrics to over
a million tracks, a number that is constantly
growing. Today, LyricFind is one of the oldest, best,
and most respected sources for lyrics online.
